Thanks for correcting your review on this cigar. I thought I was crazy until I saw your second review. I am smoking my first one of these as I type. Down to about 2 inches now & have had no burn problem at all. It sat untouched for about 3-4 minutes without having to relight. Smooth & spicy for me. A friend told me about these & I went into a local cigar shop that was closing. I got a box of the barcelona for $25.00. He is selling all his stock at cost. Guess I lucked out. He told me this box was sitting for about a year. Anyway be well.-----Joe

I was fortunate to receive a box of Sancho Panza Extra Fuertes--the Cordoba size. These smokes had been aged for an unknown period of time (the cello was slightly yellowed). I had no knowledge of them and had done no research, so my expectations were low. Imagine my surprise to find that they were reminiscent of Padron maduros like the Londres and Delicias. I love these smokes and I will echo Zippo's comment--age 'em to receive your reward. Excellent value (and no burn issues to date)!

Its been almost two years since I had this cigar and wrote this review. Having had several great cigars from Sancho Panza since then, I recently decided to revisit this particular cigar.

In short, it was a great cigar, and one that I will not hesitate to buy and enjoy again!! I will chalk up my first experience to simply having that "one in every box/bundle" that's just not up to par with the standard.

Z-Man, Zippo and Barry are on point. Smoked my last Pamplona yesterday and hated to put it out. Do they make cigar roach clips? Buy a couple and age them...you'll be rewarded.

When aged properly i would say that this an exceptional cigar.
Smoked my last today (ap 3 years old) and surely this smoke is one of the top cigars i have smoked (cubans included).

[...] A Cigar Smoker’s Journal: This was actually a guest reviewer on Barry’s blog, who went by the name of TriMarkC (either a nickname or he had some mean parents, just kidding). He found that the cigar had pepper and leather notes. It was medium-full bodied for him and he gave the cigar, the Madrid, 87 points mostly because it had a horrible burn to it. “A lot of variety in flavor as you progress through the cigar. The inconsistent burn was an issue, and the constant relighting might have added to some of the bitterness I tasted at the end.” Great review, you need to read it. [...]

Zman,

This may be a great cigar, but I had so many burn issues that it detracted from the early indications of a flavorful cigar. And in the end, I believe it was the frequent relights that likely affect it and gave it the acrid taste that finally ended it for me.

As I noted, I would like to try this cigar again. I'm on a tight budget at this time, but when I can try it again, next time, I will be sure to enjoy it with a nice adult beverage.

The price on this cigar is definitely right and it is a good smoke, however they constantly have burn issues and I have had problems keeping them lit.

I believe it is the construction issues that keep the stick this low in price

Okay people, I've smoked a Shinola load of cigars in my lifetime and THIS cigar is the most underrated and perhaps the best value for the money on the market. The price is SO very reasonable and the cigar itself is flavorful and enjoyable.

And that's all I have to say about that.
