A friend bought me a Tatuage Verocu Tubos (Red). I thoroughly enjoyed it. It drew well and had good flavor and firm gray ash. I have not enjoyed a cigar this much in quite awhile. I will buy a box in the very near future.

Well, I finally got around to smoking both Black and Red tubos the past two days and I have to say...what a waste.

Neither one did much for me. The black had more and better flavor, but not by much. The predominant flavor I got from the red in the first half was mud covering over some cedar and leather. That cleared up a bit in the second half, but not nearly so much as to command a super-premium price tag.

A big let-down after really enjoying the Drac.

Excellent. The proprietor of Cigar Inn sold me one of those when we were there last week. Looking forward to it.

Sounds like my experience was a little different. Bought one box of each and liked both. They are almost opposite flavor profiles. For me the black was more complex, a little sweet, had no burn issues with them, so far. I liked the red just as well and it is less expensive after all. The reds remind me who makes these and why I like his cigars too. Don't think I will mind rotating them and I will be just as happy to go back and by the reds.

I agree with this comment...the black tubo was harsh, burned poorly and was a huge disappointment...Drac failed to satisfy as well...I love Pete and the brand but what gives ?????

Very nice review Barry. I loved this stick. I wish I had bought more. This cigar paired very well with a few pieces of dark chile chocolate.

The Black Tubos seemed dry to me. They burned fast, and hot. I think a little time in the humidor sans tubo will really help that smoke. It was a big let down for me because I missed out on the corona gorda and have been hunting for that cigar ever since.

As much as I love Petes smokes, it seems like his best cigars are his limited stuff, and I either cant find it, cant afford it, or buy one or two, love them, and cant get it again.
