Cigar Review: Oliva V
So I came home yesterday to discover my DSL connection was operating at the speed of a 28.8 modem. This was not good because I had no reviews in the bank and I had to get a review up for Monday. I thought I would wait til Monday morning but that turned to be a mistake as it took me back to my days of my 2400 baud modem on my Commodore 64.
According to the Oliva website, theSerie V is a complex blend of Nicaraguan long filler tobaccos. Blended with specially fermented Jalapa Valley ligero, and finished with a high priming Habano Sun Grown Wrapper. This cigar is blended to deliver full body taste while maintaining an unparalleled smoothness. This flavorful blend exhibits complex tobacco with rich coffee and dark chocolate tones.

Appearance and Construction: The Oliva V features a classic looking Sungrown wrapper that is a gorgeous shade of brown. There are minimal veins present on this cigar that has a nice roll right down to the triple cap. The label is oversized and features shades of brown and red. The cigar has a nice weight to it despite a loosely packed foot.
Flavor & Notes : The cigar offers some wonderful tobacco notes to the nose off the foot. The draw has some notes 0f caramel and chocolate. Once the cigar is little it features a wonderful tobacco note with some cocoa. The second third of the cigar picks up a little in strength as notes of cocoa are joined by leather and spice. The final third of the cigar offer up continued notes of leather with a coffee finish.
Smoking Characteristics: The Oliva V is a cigar that smokes really well. The burn is slow and crisp while the ash remains white. The draw was perfect and I have never had an Olivia V with a draw issue. The cigar produces a nice amount of smoke which I enjoy.
Conclusion: The Oliva V is a go to stick plain and simple. It is consistent, flavorful and enjoyable. The Oliva V is a cigar that has a nice price point which makes this one of the best values in the premium cigar market.
