Last week while Guillermo Leon was in NYC on vacation he gave me a call to meet up to have a cigar. Little did I know that night would be a trip down memory lane of the first night I was in the Dominican Republic as a guest of the Miami Cigar Co. and La Aurora Cigars. For those who do not know Guillermo Leon is the owner of the La Aurora Cigar Company and one the nicest most genuine people in the business.
Having spent the earlier part of the day at a Jose Blanco cigar seminar I was surprised when Guillermo called my phone asking if I was free to meet later in the evening. Of course even if I wasn’t I would of made sure I was. It’s not often the owner of a cigar company gives you a call requesting to light one up with you while he is on vacation.
So at 7pm I headed over to Cigar Inn and met up with Guilermo Leon where we caught up on the goings on since we last saw each other and in the course of the evening he gifted me with 20 cigars, 10 of which were a Corona size and 10 of which were 6 x 56 or so. These cigars are going to be released in August at IPCPR and while I know the name of the cigar and make up of the cigar I can’t disclose much out of loyalty and respect to my friend. I can tell you the cigar features a double binder with an exquisite taste and a delicious aroma. I’ve gone through all my samples in record time and am happy with the subtle sweetness and wood notes that make this cigar another winner for all those involved.
I also got to view the artwork, boxes and packaging and I was simply amazed at how elegant it all looked. Definitely something that will catch the eye of cigar smokers everywhere and once you smoke one of these they will have you coming back for more.
Working that night at Cigar Inn was the lovely Chelsea who had me hooked the first time I met her with her accent from Michigan. A beautiful girl with a friendly and outgoing personality that brings a smile to me every time I see that she is at the Inn. In fact Guillermo teased me some about my friendly rapport with her. As we enjoyed our cigars, drank some Ron Barcello rum along with some good friendly teasing I had to call a night all to soon as I was not the one driving. I felt horrible and as soon as I left I sent a text to Lindsay who was there with us that I would be coming back.
Somewhere during the course of my return trip Guillermo convinced Chelsea to give me a call telling me to come back and I assured her I already was. I laughed and was somewhat surprised Guillermo had put her up to the task.
Once I returned we enjoyed a late dinner, smoked some more of the new cigars, laughed and finished off the bottle of Ron Barcello Rum.
A great night was had by all and for those interested the picture attached is myself, Chelsea (in the white top), Lindsay Heller, and Guillermo Leon.
