News: My Father Cigars Names New VP of Sales

My Father Cigars, Inc., the company of the Garcia Family cigar manufacturing and sales announced the new appointment of Vice President of Sales on July 15th in Miami, Fla., via a press release. Rather then replaceing John Gonzalez who has held on to the post since 2007 the Garcia’s named Jose Ortega to the position. Senor Gonzalez will concentrate on international sales specifically Europe and Asia while Senor Ortega will handle domestic (U.S.) sales and in-store events.

John Gonzalez who held a similar position with another company and was responsible for increasing sales in Asia dramatically and the Garcia family hopes the same result can be achieved for them as well.

The My Father Cigar Inc. company feels the need to direct the attention abroad in light of the increasing tax policies that have been enacted recently on both a Federal and State level. Janny Garcia, speaking on behalf of the family entity mentioned the impact of smoking bans and restrictions on where we can and cannot smoke in various cities and states.

Janny Garcia went on to say, “We do not fear for the future of the industry in the United States, but we feel a need to pay greater attention to the foreign markets where cigar smoking is still an acceptable passtime…particularly, Asia.”

By appointing Jose Ortega to head the domestic sales organization, My Father Cigars has acquired an experience and able sales executive who is known for his  ‘hands on’ approach in working with salesmen in the field, doing events and the ability to discuss with  individual smokers at events to explain the value of the cigars that the company produces.

Jose Ortega wasted no time and grabbed the bull by the horns while all three Garcias – Janny, Jaime and Pepin – were in Estelí, Nicaragua. Ortega took the time to speak with all the company’s Sales Representatives, and spell out his modus operandi and explain what he expected of them. Likewise, he spoke with many of the company’s major customers – all known to him – to say “Hello” and advise them of his role.

Jaime Garcia added that “…we spent a considerable amount of time seeking the individual who would help move our company to the next level. When we began conversations with Jose, we were immediately aware that his knowledge, energy and work ethic were more than equal to our needs and expectations. My father, sister and I, all agreed and we were delighted when Jose accepted our proposal.”

It is expected that Ortega will not be a ‘desk bound’ Vice President of Sales, but will be in the field, working with Sales Reps, tobacconists and doing events, thus becoming an additional ‘face of’ the Garcia brands.
