Cigar Event: 13th Habanos Cigar Festival In Cuba

Hey, did you get your tickets yet? Looks like the Cuban cigar event of the year is happening soon, from February 21–25, in Havana Cuba. With travel to Cuba now being easier than ever, hey, it’s possible to attend legally this year.

It’s likely that the event is going to be filled with lots of fine Cuban tobacco. Lucky participants will probably be able to sample the next greatest Cohibas. It was the Behike last year – I wonder what it will be this year.

So far, the President of the organizing committee, Oscar Basulto, said that more than 1000 cigar lovers have already confirmed their attendance.

Actually, the event is organized by Habanos S.A. and Tabacuba Business Group. These organizations are purported to honor the world-reknown cigar brands: “Montecristo,” “Partagas” and “H. Upmann,” Basulto said.

The rest of the agenda also looks a lot like the cigar tourism events that Rocky Patel and the fine folks at Drew Estates throw every so often.

According to the press release, “[t]he festival includes the traditional activities such as visits to tobacco plantations and cigar factories, and tasting of cigars with beverages as rum, coffee, brandy and tequila, as well as trade fair and seminars.”

At their main event, the gala dinner at the end of the festival will honor the Montecristo brand, during which “Cigar Man of the Year” will be chosen.

As many of you know, Habanos S.A., is a joint venture equally owned by the local Cubatabaco Co. and the Spanish Altadis.
