News: Greetings from Afghanistan…

patch

I am currently down in the Dominican Republic hanging out with some other bloggers at the La Aurora Factory. So while away and there is no scheduled review for the day, I figured I would share an email I got. My business partner was attached to the 101st Airborne in Vietnam and was a member of Special Forces. He spent 21 days in the jungle as a POW before escaping.

While I never served, I know the sacrifices our men and women of the armed force make. I salute them for they are what make our country what it is.

This past week I got an email from Master Sergeant Cole in Afghanistan. It was short, but it means a lot to me that members of our armed forces read this site. He wrote, “Enjoy reading your articles sending you pictures.” We exchanged a few emails and with his permission I share these pictures. If only our politicians could appreciate how much a cigar truly means.

He ended his email with his name, MSgt Cole and the following,

“SAEPIUS EXERTUS, SEMPER FIDELIS, FRATER INFINITAS”

OFTEN TESTED, ALWAYS FAITHFUL, BROTHERS FOREVER

I agree, on all your points! Just before Christmas 2010 I organized a collection of cigars from a number of friends (primarily on CigarWorld.com), and sent those all over for our men and women on the front lines.

A few weeks later I received a nice letter and a Certificate of Appreciation from the “President, Kabul Cigar Club” – the tongue-in-check name of the guys that received our cigars. That Certificate is hanging on my wall right now!!!

    Semper Fi!!
