Gary Griffith and George Rodriguez of Emilio and Rodrigo Cigars respectively, are entering into a joint distribution agreement to begin later in 2012. In an exclusive Skype interview on July 2, 2012, George Rodriguez told A Cigar Smoker’s Journal and Cigar-Coop.com that the agreement was in place to have Gary Griffith of Emilio cigars handle the distribution for Rodrigo Cigars in North America.
George Rodriguez says:
Gary and I sat down for a smoke while he was in Houston and it became very apparent that we both are in it for the greater good of the boutique cigar market. We both want to see all boats rise with the tide by bringing the small batch experience to more smokers. It’s a no brainer for us to team up – Emilio has a great foothold in the market with its highly acclaimed Nicaraguan based blends and Rodrigo is the Dominican up and comer to watch. With Emilio’s growing distribution network it’s going to be easier than ever for any B&M to add the best in true boutique cigars to their portfolio…
You have to admire the job Gary and his team have done in such a short amount of time. With Emilio’s growing distribution network, we’ll now be able to bring the experience of small batch boutique cigars like Rodrigo to more smokers across the country.
As soon as the details can be ironed out, both brands should be available from L.J Zucca’s distribution center in Vineland, New Jersey.
