EloGio Serie LSV – Cigar Review

print

Recently I was hanging out with Cigar Coop for a joint review of the Rodrigo La Fortaleza. While we were hanging out, Will gave me an EloGio, and asked me to tell him what I thought about it. I really enjoyed it, so I decided to do a whole review about it. The EloGio Serie LSV is the newest line from EloGio Cigars. It is a Nicaraguan puro which has been catching some attention, and caught my attention because it came with a great recommendation from Coop, whose palate I respect greatly.

Cigars Smoked For Review: 1

Construction and Appearance: The EloGio has a attractive reddish medium brown wrapper with very little veins and a tight cap. The cigar smoked for review was evenly packed with no visible flaws. The band on the ElGio is simple, yet classic and elegant. It is very simple, saying only EloGio in a nice script, and below it Hand Made in Nicaragua.

Flavor and Notes: The wrapper of the EloGio has notes of wood, hay, and a slight sweet tone to it. The foot has rich notes of wood, hay, leather, and a presence of spice. I go with a straight cut to prepare to smoke the EloGio, due to the smaller ring gauge, and on the cold draw there are flavors of wood, leather, hay, and an overall sweet and savory feel.

Smoking Characteristics: The EloGio kicks off with an excellent blend of flavors there are notes of wood, leather, a light white pepper, and savory caramel. The smoke is rich, sweet, creamy, and smooth. The draw is perfect, easily providing a full body of the rich smoke. The burn line is tight, and the ash holds firmly to the end of the stick. It has an excellent medium strength, and provides a nice mellow buzz.

Into the second third, the flavors remain fairly consistent, there are still all of the rich notes of wood, leather, and savory caramel. They are joined by a bit of coffee and cream. The note of white pepper seems to have faded out and now the smoke is simply tantalizing. It is very creamy, smooth, sweet, rich, delicious, and complex with all of the flavors working very well together. The burn is still razor sharp, and the ash holds firm my without any flaking.

Into the final third, there is no more evolution to the flavor profile. It continues with  all of the notes of wood, leather, savory caramel, coffee, and cream. The flavors are rich, full, delicious, and well balanced. The draw is still excellent, requiring no attention. Each draw provides a full body  of the rich, sweet, creamy, smooth delicious smoke. It smokes cool to the nub without any noticeable heat.

Conclusion: The EloGio LSV is the first EloGio I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying. I have to say I am quite impressed. It is a delicious stick with some nice complexities, and it is delicious, smooth, creamy, and full of flavors. The construction was quite impressive, the ash held firm, the burn was razor sharp, and the draw required no corrections. I would recommend this cigar to anyone I know and would gladly purchase some in the future. This cigar is available at Outland Cigar in Charlotte, NC.
