Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story – Cigar Review
The Fuente Short Story is one of those cigars that any serious smoker has heard of, and a favorite of many. It is one I’ve enjoyed many times in the past, so it is about time I shared my thoughts on it! The Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story is a part of the the Fuente Hemingway line from the Fuente Family. The Hemingway lines include many popular offerings including the Between the Lines, Work of Art, Best Seller, and Masterpiece. The entire Hemingway line often finds it way into my smoking rotation, the Short Story most often. It is an attractive looking little perfecto, which makes for an excellent quick smoke.

Construction and Appearance: The Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story is a cute little perfecto with a beautiful cap ending in a nice tapered foot. It has the classic Fuente Grand Reserva band found on the majority of their offerings, which is classic and pleasing to the eye. It has a fairly light brown wrapper which as a gorgeous hue with very little veins, a nice oil gloss, and it is very smooth to the touch.
Flavor and Notes: The wrapper of the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story has notes of grass, nuts, and some earthy tones. The foot has notes of grass, nuts, earth, and some natural tobacco. I choose a very slight straight cut on the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story and the cold draw yields flavors of sweet tobacco, grass, and some earth.
Smoking Characteristics: The Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story fires up with a bit of a light spice, close to a white pepper, some nice toasted flavors, with a bit of nuts and grass. It starts out leaving a very light oily feel on the palate which gives it a very nice rich finish. The draw is excellent, easily providing a full body of the rich, cool, dry smoke. The burn, nearly razor sharp, blends right into the firm ash and takes some effort to drop off when desired. The spice is very mild on the retrohale and the strength is in the mild to medium range.
Into the second half of the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story there is a new rich natural tobacco flavor which blends into the profile wonderfully. The notes of roasted nuts, toasted flavors, and grass all remain as well, but the mild white pepper has mostly faded out. The finish on the palate is still a bit oily and rich, but now also has a nice savory feel to it. The construction on the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story still performs wonderfully. The draw is excellent, providing a nice body of smoke on each puff. The burn line holds steady, and the ash still holds firm.
Conclusion: The Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story is an excellent offering from the Fuente Family. It is a delicious little short smoke, which is wonderfully pleasing. The flavors of roasted nuts, toasted flavors, grass, and light spice all blend together well. The Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story is a must try if you haven’t already, the strength is mild to medium, and the flavors are simply amazing.
