La Flor Dominicana Limitado V – Cigar review
La Flor Dominicana announced the release of the Limitado V in Orlando, Florida at the 2012 IPCPR convention. The Limitado Line has always been a well received release. Due to its limited production, it becomes a sought after cigar for La Flor Dominicana fans.
From La Flor Dominicana about the Limitado V
This release will be our fifth installment in the Limitado series, which has a release about every two years. The powerful blend for this cigar is based off of the original Limitado blend, and is made with a dark Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Dominican fillers and a Nicaraguan binder. Production will be limited to 2000 boxes.

Construction and Appearance: The LFD Limitado V has a band that is common to a lot of their releases and specifies it as Limitado V below the classic band. The wrapper of the LFD Limitado V is an inviting dark brown with nice oils. It is slightly mottled in color, with moderate veins and a generous cap.
Flavor and Notes: The wrapper of the LFD Limitado V has scents of sweet cocoa, espresso, and wood. On the foot there is the scent of wood, espresso, and dark chocolate. To prepare for smoking the LFD Limitado V I use a straight cut, and on the cold draw there are flavors of wood, spice, nuts, and dark chocolate.
Smoking Characteristics: The LFD Limitado V fires up with a rich blend of flavors which is a mix of wood, cedar, milk chocolate, a bit of pepper, and light spice. A mix of cedar and milk chocolate lingers on the palate long between draws, creating a delicious blend. The draw starts out excellent, providing a rich, cool, sweet, creamy, full body of smoke. The strength in this third is around the medium range, and the construction performs well.
Into the second third of the LFD Limitado V, the strength starts to build. It increases from the medium range towards full. The flavor now begins to mature with all the notes of cedar, milk chocolate, grass, light spice remaining. The pepper fades out, but some notes of leather, earth, and espresso join the profile. The construction performs very well, the draw is excellent, the ash holds firm, and the burn line is very sharp.
During the final third, the flavor profile continues to keep my interest as the different flavors fade in and out. The leather fades a little, but all the notes of cedar, milk chocolate, grass, light spice, leather, earth, and espresso remain. The main difference in the flavor during this portion of the cigar is that it becomes less sweet. The strength has built to full, and an pleasant buzz sets in. The construction is still wonderful, with a great draw, great ash, and great burn.
Conclusion: The LFD Limitado V is a great release from La Flor Dominicana, it has wonderful flavors with great complexity, balance, aroma, and flavor. The construction was excellent, with no issues with the burn, ash, or draw. This is a wonderful cigar and it certainly is worth the box purchase if you swing a 48 count box.
