Floods Devastate Honduras Miami, Fl., August 19, 2010 – Severe thunderstorms have devastated Honduras causing major flooding and landslides. The Gran Habano factory has sustained damage by the floods but we anticipate that we can recover without any loss to production or distribution. However, the families in the surrounding area and our own families were [...]
Cigar Review: La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor
I managed to get my hands one of these a few days before IPCPR and when I smoked it I was ready to right a review on it. However, I promised I would wait until after the show as Ashton did a good job keeping these under wraps. Since IPCPR I have smoked quite a few of them and my opinion has never changed.
The Mi Amor has been in the making for a couple of years and Holts in Philadelphia will have an event at the Walnut Street location on August 25th from 12pm at 8pm. If you drop by make sure you say hello to Anthony, Robyn, Bob, Lee & Michael for me. This crew makes up one of the best staffs in the cigar business
Cigar Review: Guillermo Leon Signature
I had a different cigar scheduled for review today but the other night Guillermo called me up when in NYC to hang with him at Cigar Inn. So I figured I should review his newest cigar which I have had the pleasure of smoking on numerous occasions before. When I went to the Aurora cigar [...]
Events: Pro Cigar 2011
I don’t hide the fact that I fell in love with the Dominican Republic thanks to my good friends at Miami Cigar and La Aurora Cigars. The beautiful country side, the warm individuals, good food and fantastic cigars were everything a cigar smoker needed for a vacation.
Well the chance to experience that for everyone is here. Pro Cigar 2011 isn’t until February of next year but registration is here and if you ever wanted to experience a true cigar vacation is here.
So head on over to the Official Pro Cigar Website and join in on the festivities. As of now I plan on being there and I hope to see you in the Dominican Republic!
Cigar Review: La Charada by La Caridad Del Cobre
In the beginning I was the type of person who asked for cigars when I ran into a rep. But after a few months of running the blog I realized that doing this site did not entitle me to free smokes. So, I adopted the policy of not asking for cigars even though certain people told me not to be shy. I felt like even though I was providing a service to the cigar community it isn’t right. This past week at IPCPR I broke that policy one time and that is why I chose the cigar as the first post IPCPR review. Having a hard time finding these smokes and hearing Lindsay Heller talk about them I had to ask Frank for one to review. He gave me one, his sales rep gave me one and I got another one that same night. 3 cigars. Review material.
Sunday Links
Some people have asked me why I think IPCPR was so empy this year. To be honest I am not sure if it was empty or not since this was my first IPCPR. However, if I had to venture a guess the answer would be in thre parts.
1. The new releases were made public a while ago, and there was really nothing major coming out this year. CAO’s La Traviata Maduro has been around the net for a while now. Camacho only had a revamped Room 101…
Saturday News: IPCPR Version 2.
Despite a lot of the new releases coming out a little early like the Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary and the CAO La Traviata Maduro there were a few surprises to the IPCPR that I didn’t know about. Now this doesn’t mean that they were a surprise to all but they did manage to catch me off guard.
EP Carrillo – I went out with a few of my fellow bloggers for lunch. Upon walking in I noticed Ernesto and his family sitting and having lunch. After a quick hello so has not to disturb their lunch I sat down in the back of the restaurant and enjoyed some Aligator. During the course of our meal Ernesto had the waiter come over and buy us a round of drinks which was totally classy.
Back From IPCPR
We will resume our regularly scheduled programming on Saturday.
IPCPR Update: Opening Day
Guest post by Tom Johansmeyer of Cigar Reader. Here’s the latest from Barry, who’s out in New Orleans, working the floor at IPCPR. The IPCPR show officially kicked off yesterday, and the conversations Barry Stein, of A Cigar Smoker, had with cigar companies indicate that the crowds were a little lighter than usual. Also, the [...]
