Humo Jaguar – Cigar Review

Humo Jagauar Band

This past winter, the Honduran Cigar Festival known has Humo Jaguar took place and one of the events was a blind tasting. The tasting was open to those who grow tobacco Honduras. Each participant submitted a new and original blend and after 200 judges smoked the entries, the winner was from Nestor Plasencia. Fast forward a few months and Miami Cigar & Company introduced the cigar at the IPCPR trade show in Las Vegas.

The cigar a Honduran Puro is available in 3 sizes, Robusto (5 x 52); Corona Gorda (6 x 52) and Gigante (6 x 60). The cigars have begun to ship and should be making an appearance in local humidors real soon if they have not already.

My Uzi Weighs A Ton – Cigar Review

uzi

My Uzi Weighs a Ton is the latest creation from Drew Estate, but it’s name has been around since the days of Chuck D and Flavor Flav. Above are some lyrics from the song by Public Enemy and while I am not a fan of rap one cannot deny the effect of the group on the social climate of the inner city.

Like their rap predecessors Drew Estate has had a similar effect on the social climate of the cigar world and their innovative approach is not matched by anyone in the business, but what do you expect from a couple of kids from Brooklyn…. If you want to read more about the release check out…

Liga Privada T52 “Royale With Cheese” – Pre-Release Cigar Review

LigaPrivadaT52RWC_band

Usually a code name is for a project that is top-secret, but Drew Estate has had no problem making this project public. The Liga Privada T52 6 x 60 has been assigned the code name “Royale With Cheese” and is extremely unlikely that the cigar will be released with that name. So with the 60 ring gauge craze firmly in place the Liga T52 has arrived at the party fashionably late and while it has yet to be determined if they will stay I was looking forward to smoking this cigar. The size while not among my favorite has begun to grow on me, and as a fan of the T52 as noted in my Flying Pig & Toro reviews I was curious to see what it had to offer.

Interview: Reinado Cigars (Video)

IMG_7573

At NJ Cigar Fest I had the time to talk with Antonio Lam from Reinado Cigars before things got crazy with the crowds. As you may know I truly enjoy their Uniquely Fermented Cigars and have become a fan of the line. With the brand being 8 months old, we asked him how things were going and he let us in in what the future had in store.

Cigar Review: Diesel Shorty

dieselshorty

Recently I took part in another Cigar Pass this one started by the guys over at Toasted Foot. I saw a few cigars in there I haven’t reviewed and being that January is a slow month in the cigar world I figured I would attack one of those cigars today. It seems like AJ Fernandez is everywhere today and this is yet another cigar from him. The Diesel Shorty some people have described as yet another cigar inspired by Nub and being it checks in at 4.5 x 60 I can see how people make the comparison.

Cigar Review: La Flor Dominicana DL-700

LFD-DL700-Band

Of and on throughout my years of smoking I have enjoyed cigars from La Flor Dominicana and the recent release of the Air Bender has sparked an interest in them again. So much to the point that I reached deep into my humidor and picked out a La Flor Dominicana DL-700 that has at least a year on it and while I am using my camera on my cell phone I am hoping you can spot the magnesium pimples that adorn the wrapper.

Cigar: La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero
Size: 6.5 x 60 (DL-700)
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sun Grown
Binder: Dominican
Filler: Dominican

Cigar Review: Old School Cigars

Old School Original

A few weeks back I went to an event at Tobacco Plaza on Long Island, NY for the launch of the La Aurora 107. Prior to the event I was speaking with Danny one of the owners and one of the guys behind Old School Cigars about how his cigars are now produced by Alec Bradley and have been tweaked some. I was eager to try one but I was suffering from a cold and a brutal cough that prevented me from taking them in. Danny who is one of the nicest guys in the business was nice enough to gift me 3 of these despite my offer to buy them for review.

Cigar Review: Don Ramon Maduro

Last week the HJ Bailey Company reached out to me to review a few cigars that they recently came out with as a tribute to the founder of their company. HJ Bailey was founded in 1932 by Raymond Roth and he passed away in 1998. Produced in Honduras by Camacho cigars, these cigars are the [...]
