Event Recap: Delaware Cigar Festival

As the fall weather began to take hold in the Northeast the stage was set for the 5th Delaware Cigar Festival, organized by Gary Griffith. Gary who is associated with Cigar-ette City and the creator of Emilio and Grimalkin cigars put on a clinic on how a cigar festival should be run.

The event was held at Delaware Park under cloudy skies with the likes of Arielle Ditkowich, brand manager for La Sirena Cigars, Eddie Ortega from EO Brands, Clint Aaron of 262 Cigars and numerous reps from Rocky Patel, JC Newman, Drew Estate, Altadis, Oliva, Kristoff, Perdomo, La Flor Dominicana, Cigar Rights of America, Miami Cigar, General Cigar and The Cigar Agency.

Event Recap: José Seijas at the Metropolitan Society, NJ

Wow, what a great event last night at the Metropolitan Society in New Jersey. As an Altadis cigar VIP (via John Conroy), I got a chance to meet the legendary Jose Seijas, vice president & general manager, Tabalcerla de Garcia (an Altadis company).

José made all of us feel special by giving an impromptu, but extraordinarily informative, presentation/Q&A session about his role at his cigar factory. In the world of premium cigars, there are only a few people who are peers with Master Blender José Seijas. Some say that José is to Altadis, the same way Benji Menendez is to General Cigar.

Cigar Event: A Final Puff In Central Park

Last_herf

So do you have any plans on May 21st, 2011 at 1:00PM? If you’re free, I think you might want to go this event:

You won’t be able to smoke your fine luxury tobacco in public parks and beaches after May 23rd. But before NYC’s oppressive outdoor smoking ban goes into effect cigar companies including Alec Bradley, Graycliff, La Aurora, Altadis, General Cigar and Plasencia invite you to have A Last Cigar In Central Park.

This event is hosted by Aaron Sigmond, the founding editor of Smoke Magazine and the Cigar Report, and television personality Bill McCuddy to commemorate the end of an era as it is one of the last times cigar smokers can legally enjoy a cigar in Central Park.

Cigar Event: 13th Habanos Cigar Festival In Cuba

Hey, did you get your tickets yet? Looks like the Cuban cigar event of the year is happening soon, from February 21–25, in Havana Cuba. With travel to Cuba now being easier than ever, hey, it’s possible to attend legally this year.

It’s likely that the event is going to be filled with lots of fine Cuban tobacco. Lucky participants will probably be able to sample the next greatest Cohibas. It was the Behike last year – I wonder what it will be this year.

So far, the President of the organizing committee, Oscar Basulto, said that more than 1000 cigar lovers have already confirmed their attendance.

Cigar Review: Warlock

By now you have seen the advertisements in many cigar magazine for the Warlock cigar. Well when I first got a sample back at IPCPR my local sales rep and personal acquaintance told me that the cigar was the answer from Altadis to all the boutique cigars. I raised my eyebrow when he told me [...]

Saturday News: IPCPR Version 2.

ipcpr

Despite a lot of the new releases coming out a little early like the Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary and the CAO La Traviata Maduro there were a few surprises to the IPCPR that I didn’t know about. Now this doesn’t mean that they were a surprise to all but they did manage to catch me off guard.

EP Carrillo – I went out with a few of my fellow bloggers for lunch. Upon walking in I noticed Ernesto and his family sitting and having lunch. After a quick hello so has not to disturb their lunch I sat down in the back of the restaurant and enjoyed some Aligator. During the course of our meal Ernesto had the waiter come over and buy us a round of drinks which was totally classy.

Cigar Review: H Upmann Reserve Maduro

Every month I look forward to my package from Altadis as part of their VIP program to see what cigars they have sent me. This is a good thing as they send me cigars that I have forgotten about because I have become boutique cigar frenzied. H. Upmann cigars were founded in 1844 by a [...]
