La Flor Dominicana Air Bender Maduro – Cigar Review

Air Bender Maduro - Band

Last week Nat Sherman hosted the launch of the Air Bender Maduro which as of now is only available as part of Casa de Tobacco. The Casa de Tobacco will also serve as a Humidor and is made from rattan and leaves from the plantain. It basically looks like a scale model of the curing barns that are in the tobacco regions of the Dominican Republic. Production is limited, and the MSRP is $350.00.

At the event I got to talk with Litto and while there are no plans currently to release the cigar as a stand alone, he wouldn’t be surprised to see it as a regular release down the road. Since Litto makes all the tobacco decisions I think it is safe to say the cigar will become a regular release.

Quesada Espana – Cigar Review

Quesada Espana

The Quesada Espana is currently available only in Spain, but there were some floating around the Pro Cigar Festival. Thanks to a friend I was able to get a sample of these to smoke. As of now the Quesada family is undecided if they should release these in the American market as well. The cigar is blended to fit what the Spanish smoker wants. They prefer cigars with lighter wrappers and smaller ring gauges. As a result these come in a corona (5.5 x 42); short robusto (4 x 50); and a traditional robusto (5 x 50) The cigars sell from €5.50 to €6.35.

Although the cigars were aimed at the Cuban taste profile, the cigar is meant to stand on its own, so that the Spanish smoker will find it comparable with his regular Cuban smokes.

Cigar Review: San Lotano Habano

On our current contest to give away a gift certificate for $100.00 a couple of people mentioned San Lotano with one person mentioning the Habano wrapper. This reminded me I got my hands on a couple back in August and they were sitting in the bottom of my humidor. So I decided to break them out and see why they made it on to someones top 5 list of 2010.

According to a press release back in July the San Lotano is AJ Fernandez signature line. The rich history of San Lotano dates back to Cuba’s pre-Castro era where the brand was among the most popular with traditional Cuban cigar makers. Retired for decades, the line is being reintroduced by A.J. Fernandez whose grandfather first started the brand in San Luis, Cuba. San Lotano is made entirely by hand in the Fernandez factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, and is available in three enticing variations encompassing Habano, Connecticut and Maduro wrappers.

Cigar Review: Paradigm 262

The company’s tag line is part of what draws me to this cigar, “Smoke The Revolution”. Talk about a call to arms for cigar smokers. The Paradigm website has a great manifesto that is worth the read. According to the website the Paradigm 262 is a medium to full bodied cigar that is sure to revolutionize your smoking experience.

The name 262 is reference to the month and year that John F. Kennedy signed the Cuban embargo. Just prior to signing the bill John F. Kennedy got himself an astronomical amount of Cuban cigars for his personal use.

Cigar Review: Monte Pascoal

Due to new government regulations bloggers now must disclose if a product was given to us as a gift from the manufacturer, so with that said today’s smoke was a gift from Eduardo Braghin of the Brazil Tobacco Group. Mr. Braghin sent me some sticks for review at the suggestion of Gary J. who is [...]
