Don Pepin Blue Label Firecracker – Cigar Review

Don Pepin Blue Label Firecracker Band

When I ordered my Tatuaje M80 cigars from Two Guys Smoke Shop a couple of weeks ago, I remembered that they were the exclusive for another Pepin cigar, the Blue Label Firecracker. This ultra small cigar is a bit of a gimmick. The blend is the same as the Blue Label Pepin, however it comes in at 3″ long or should I say 3″ small.

So with Independence Day upon us I figured I would light up a Firecracker, one that Mayor Bloomberg can’t arrest me for in NYC, however I have to be careful where I smoke it so I don’t get a ticket. Isn’t it funny, how we broke free from England over taxes, and yet we are taxed to hell currently and despite having elected officials I don’t feel represented fairly. I don’t know about you, but I think it is time to pass the flat tax.

Pedro Martin Cigars via Maria Martin

Pedro Martin was a great cigar blender. In addition being a founder of the excellent Tabacalera Tropical (now known as Agricola Norteña S.A. or ‘Aganorsa’ for short), he gave Don Pepin Garcia his first gig in the tobacco industry after Pepin left Cuba. Unfortunately, Pedro Martin passed away last year, but there’s good news: his legacy lives on through his daughter, Maria Martin and her new brand of cigars: Pedro Martin Cigars.

Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial Super Gordo – Cigar Review

jaimegarciasupergordoband

When I first heard that My Father Cigars planned to release a new cigar in this massive jaw-breaking size I rolled my eyes. To be truthful, I dreaded having to smoke it for review. I am not a fan of big ring cigars except for a few here and there. Well, this past weekend my friend Danny from Tobacco Plaza told me that they got these in stock and that they were great. Typical salesman, right? Well, like me Danny prefers cigars with a thinner ring gauge, and we have become friends so there is no reason to lie to me about how good or bad a cigar is. He knows, that if they get them first I will drive out to his shop. Well, as luck would have it he seems to get everything first.

Cigar Review: Tatuaje Havana VI Angeles

tathavanaviband

According to the Tatuaje Cigars website this cigars are blended in the style of the flavorful yet Medium Bodied Cuban Cigars. The cigars are rolled in Nicaragua using select Nicaraguan tobaccos and classic Cuban blending with a beautiful Cuban triple-cap. Made at the My Father Cigar factory these stay true to the pride of El Rey de Los Habanos.

Saturday Mixed Bag

Good afternoon everyone. Today I wanted to bring to you the hottest cigar news of the Internet. Here we go:

Looks like Cuban Crafters has a voyeuristic web cam of their rollers. I think it’s a good idea but it kinda looks like a convenience store cam. You can sometimes see customers stroll through.

Cigar Review: La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor

la_aroma_de_cuba_mi_amor_tn

I managed to get my hands one of these a few days before IPCPR and when I smoked it I was ready to right a review on it. However, I promised I would wait until after the show as Ashton did a good job keeping these under wraps. Since IPCPR I have smoked quite a few of them and my opinion has never changed.

The Mi Amor has been in the making for a couple of years and Holts in Philadelphia will have an event at the Walnut Street location on August 25th from 12pm at 8pm. If you drop by make sure you say hello to Anthony, Robyn, Bob, Lee & Michael for me. This crew makes up one of the best staffs in the cigar business

Cigar Review: Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial

jaimegarciareservaespecial_tn

The first time I smoked these cigars were at the launch event over at Cigar Inn. Sadly the cigar that was released that night is different then the current version and I have this on good authority. It seems following the success of the My Father cigar that Jaime put together as a tribute to his father he was “allowed” to create the Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial. The story goes that at the Cigar Inn event Pepin smoked the cigar for the first time and wasn’t very excited about it. So when back at the farm the cigar went under a reblend of sorts and this is the cigar we have today. The cigar features 2 different kinds of Nicaraguan tobacco with one grown by Jaime and the other Pepin. Also the cigar features tobacco grown at the Oliva farm giving us a different more complex cigar then previously smoked.

News/Review:Pepin to Produce Cigar for Davidoff NYC GM

IMG NY Store 1.325

Last week at the event we ran on the rooftop of Rick’s Cabaret the general manager of Davidoff NYC stopped by. During the course of this event Michael Herklots handed Tom from Cigar Reader and myself an unbanded cigar. As the oily wrapper had my eye he explained that he was working with the Pepin family on a new cigar that would be sold exclusively at the Davidoff shops in New York City.
