Social Media is a powerful tool, but it is one that is easily abused due to the “muscles” one tends to develop behind the computer. Such is the case with people on Twitter and Facebook. It’s sad when a person doesn’t see the harm they are doing to a community when they decide to question support of a product or cause in a public forum. The same can be said when a person hides behind multiple accounts taking shots at people because of their own social inadequacies. At the end of the day we need to support one another because of strength in numbers, especially with growing legislation against us. I know some people rather stir the pot but at the end of the day does it really do anything to help the community?

Cigar Review: Gurkha Para la Gente

gurkhaparalagenteband

As more and more manufacturers come out with cigars for the New York Market which is suffering from a 75% tobacco tax I wonder how long before some other states ask for the same treatment. The latest New York exclusive is from Gurkha who this week released the Para la Gente (For the People) cigar with a big party at De La Concha in NYC. Sadly, I was unable to attend the event but my friend Danny from Tobacco Plaza in Long Island managed to secure me a couple of samples.

I never met a Gurkha that I liked and I was hesitant to smoke today’s cigar but I was happy to see that Gurkha had the consumer in mind and these cigars which are available in bundle format are cheaper than the other releases to come down the pike lately. The Gurkha Toro for instance is $8.00 however, it is available as a bundle only and not in the lavish boxes Gurkha is know for.

* In New York the possibility of a 90% tobacco tax has forced one retailer to move. Now many more are speaking out including Habana Cigar Shop in Colonie. The owner of the stop has gone on record as saying that a tobacco tax increase would force him to put 25 employees out of work. [source]

The 3 weeks of the Tour De France has just come to an end as I type this and Lance Armstrong has finished 3rd. Not bad, for a guy 37 years of age in a field of competitors much younger then him. Add to the fact that he was 3 years removed from the race [...]

Cigar Review: Gurkha Black Dragon

Disclaimer: I am not a fan of Gurkha Cigars. But with that out of the way I have had this cigar sitting in my humidor for a few months having been gifted it. I was thinking of re-gifting it but since I have yet to review a Gurkha smoke I figured why the heck not. [...]
