Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial Limited Edition 2011 – Cigar Review

Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial Limited Edition Band

Today’s smoke is the Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial Limited Edition. According to Uptown Cigar Company,

With a total of only 3,700 boxes made, this is the first limited edition cigar made solely by Master Blender Jaime Garcia. A Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper from a lower priming, a Nicaraguan Pelo de Oro binder, and 2 Cuban-seed Nicaraguan leaves for the filler, this full bodied smoke has a similar taste to the original Jaime Garcia, except the cigar is MUCH richer and more refined in depth and flavor.

The cigars come 16 in a box, with a twist. The Broadleaf wrapper is on 15 of the sticks, while 1 features a Connecticut share which might be the wrapper used in 2012.

Smoke Inn My Father El Hijo – Cigar Review

Smoke Inn My Father El Hijo Band

o far 2011 has been a good vintage for Smoke Inn. Earlier this year the man behind the chain of tobacco shops in Flordia launched the first of his microblend series with the release of the Tatuaje Anarchy. The cigar which has really done well with age was followed by the Padron 6 x 60, a first in that ring gauge for Padron.

The third installment of the 4 part series is from My Father Cigars and called the El Hijo. The cigar will feature a select 2009 harvest Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with binder and fillers from Nicaragua. The cigar will come in a 5.5 x 52 with an unfinished foot. Only 650 boxes of 15 are being made, and the cigar is labeled as medium to full-bodied. Pre-Orders are now being taken over at Smoke Inn, and they are selling fast so get your order in today!

New Offerings From My Father Cigars

I might be a little late to the program but I had a cool conversation with Jose Ortega on the phone today and we spoke about the new cigars coming out at IPCPR next week in Las Vegas. There are two cigars of note about to be unveiled from the My Father factory in Nicaragua. Both cigars are high on my wish list, especially a box purchase of one of them …

Tatuaje La Verite Vintage 2009 – Cigar Review

La Verite 2009 Band

According to Tobacco Plaza on Long Island where I purchased these, “The Tatuaje Verite 2009 is an extremely limited edition cigar that will, like all of Pete Johnson’s limited production cigars, sell out fast and be gone from existence in no time at all.”

“La Verite began as an idea that Pete had when he first saw the tobacco growing in the Garcia Family first wholly owned farm in 2007. He realized the tobacco was going to be spectacular and after the tobacco was harvested and undergoing the fermentation process, it dawned on him that it was perfect for a single farm vintage cigar. Much like a single vineyard wine, La Verite showcases the soil where the tobacco was grown. The seed varietal varies from year to year based on the crop planted and the tobacco yield.

My Father Limited Edition 2011 – Cigar Review

MyFatherLE11_Band

In 2010 I gave the My Father Limited Edition cigar of the year despite it’s hefty price. I was totally caught up in the mystique surrounding the cigar. I mean how often do you get to smoke a cigar that was bunched by Jaime Garcia and rolled by Jose Pepin Garcia. The original concept called for production to be extremely limited and a once in a lifetime deal. So I was a bit surprised to hear the LE was coming back in 2011 but this time without the special buncher and roller taking part in the cigar.

I picked up a couple of the My Father LE 2011 from various shops in 2 different states.. How does it compare to last year? Read on my friends!

Tatuaje La Casita Criolla – Cigar Review

Those who love to collect cars for road racing will all tell you about American muscle cars. Cars like the Challenger, Charger, Ford Mustang, Shelby Mustang and the Ford Cobra. Never has someone talked about an American Puro as a collectible cigar. in fact I am not sure if anyone has ever created an American Puro. According to Pete, the American Puro has existed for years.

La Casita Criolla which translate to “The Creole Cottage” is made up of 100% Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco. This can cause some confusion which Pete cleared up some via his Facebook page some months ago.

Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial Super Gordo – Cigar Review

jaimegarciasupergordoband

When I first heard that My Father Cigars planned to release a new cigar in this massive jaw-breaking size I rolled my eyes. To be truthful, I dreaded having to smoke it for review. I am not a fan of big ring cigars except for a few here and there. Well, this past weekend my friend Danny from Tobacco Plaza told me that they got these in stock and that they were great. Typical salesman, right? Well, like me Danny prefers cigars with a thinner ring gauge, and we have become friends so there is no reason to lie to me about how good or bad a cigar is. He knows, that if they get them first I will drive out to his shop. Well, as luck would have it he seems to get everything first.

News: Fausto & La Casita Criolla by Tatuaje

Pete Johnson the man behind Tatuaje has a few new sticks coming out in 2011 and two of them are the Fausto and La Casita Criolla. His facebook page has big a big source of information as well as the fact he participates on the Cigar Forum, BOTL.

He recently posted the new advertisement for his Fausto cigar and it looks to be nice and strong.

Cigar Review: My Father Limited Edition 2010

When i first heard about this cigar back in March or so I knew it was something I would have to buy a box of and I knew it would be pricey to say the least. Well thankfully the cigars came in about 100.00 less then I had expected, with a 300.00 price tag in New York for a box of 12. Yes, that is expensive to say the least, but when you factor in that these cigars were bunched by Jaime Garcia and rolled by Jose Pepin Garcia the value of the cigar seems worthwhile. I know some people will ask, can you actually tell the difference, and the answer is yes.

Each cigar comes in its own coffin, and each box is numbered which comes with a DVD and a certificate of authenticity. I also found out that only 5 boxes were allocated per store that ordered these which were limited to 2000 made. Thankfully I have developed a relationship with Danny and the crew from Tobacco Plaza in Long Island, NY and they were nice enough to put a box aside for me.
