E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut Edition – Cigar Review

EPCarrilloNewWaveCT_Band

In late 2009 Ernesto Perez-Carrillo returned to the cigar marketplace, and in a short period of time his cigars have become a staple in many humidors. As the man who created La Gloria Cubana not many people knew the name E.P. Carrillo, now less then a year an a half since his return, casual smokers and aficionados know it well.

According to E.P. Carrillo,

The E.P. Carrillo, “New Wave Connecticut Edition is covered with a beautiful Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. This cigar breaks the mold of your typical Connecticut – the smoke is creamy with hints of spice that develop to show rich nutty and sweet flavors.” The cigar will be available in four sizes, Stellas 5 1/8 x 42 ($4.50); Brillantes 5 x 50 ($5.25); Divinos 6 x 52 ($6.25) and Gran Via 7 x 49 ($7.00). All prices are MSRP, please allow for variations due to tobacco taxes.

Cigar Review: Leon Jimenes Don Fernando #4 *Updated*

leonjimenesband

Recently the La Aurora Cigars factory brought us a cigar by the “Big Cat” Guillermo Leon with his Signature Collection. However before Guillermo was ready to be at the helm of this storied cigar factory his father had a cigar that was his go to smoke. The Leon Jimenes cigar box I have been told at one time stated in Spanish, “Made especially for Don Fernando Leon” and while I haven’t seen a box in quite some time I cannot comment if this is still the case today.

I was given one by The Cigar Chick a few weeks ago and I managed to get a couple of more from Tobacco Plaza so I figured it was time to give my take on cigar made for Guillermo Leon’s father. The La Aurora website states…

Cigar Review: Camacho LegendArio

legendario_tn

In case you have not noticed Camacho has become a paid advertiser of this website. Recently I was contacted by them asking if I could review some of there cigars and I was glad to obliged. I asked what cigars they would like me to purchase to review and they informed me not to worry that they will send me some. Some of those cigars were today’s review, the LegendArio. Not being an advertiser here does not mean a good review. It does however guarantee an honest review.

Cigar Review: Man O’ War Virtue

manowarvirtuelabel

I was browsing some cigar sites last week looking to spend some money that I really shouldn’t of been spending. I had told myself I would only window shop but I came across a deal on the new Man O’ War Virtue cigar and I had to grab them.

The Virtue is the mildest of all Man O War cigars. These cigars are produced by AJ Fernandez who it turns out was a protege of Don Alejandro Robaina who recently passed away at the age of 91.

Cigar: Man O War Virtue
Size: 5 x 50 (Robusto)
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut 2002
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Strength: Mild

Cigar Review: Por Larranaga Cabinet Selection

I’ve been smoking a pretty long time, and I consider myself an aficionado for the last 3 years of my smoking life. However, it wasn’t until a trip to Philadelphia a couple of months back did I learn about the Cabinet Selection series. These Altadis cigars were pretty much in every cigar shop down there. [...]

Cigar Review: CAO Gold Toro Review

First off my camera is on the fritz, so I had to use a stock photo from the Internet… This past Saturday I took a drive out to Bayside, NY (Queens) to pop in and say hello to a friend of mine who just happens to be the CAO Rep in my area. Should I [...]
