I’ll be the first person to admit I thought the bookmakers had it all wrong when they had the Packers as favorites on Super Bowl Sunday. But I guess they are in the game for a reason and that is to make money on people who think like me. I really thought the score would [...]

Cigar Review: My Father Limited Edition 2010

band

When i first heard about this cigar back in March or so I knew it was something I would have to buy a box of and I knew it would be pricey to say the least. Well thankfully the cigars came in about 100.00 less then I had expected, with a 300.00 price tag in New York for a box of 12. Yes, that is expensive to say the least, but when you factor in that these cigars were bunched by Jaime Garcia and rolled by Jose Pepin Garcia the value of the cigar seems worthwhile. I know some people will ask, can you actually tell the difference, and the answer is yes.

Each cigar comes in its own coffin, and each box is numbered which comes with a DVD and a certificate of authenticity. I also found out that only 5 boxes were allocated per store that ordered these which were limited to 2000 made. Thankfully I have developed a relationship with Danny and the crew from Tobacco Plaza in Long Island, NY and they were nice enough to put a box aside for me.

Saturday News

news

Last night I attended an event at Tobacco Plaza for the launch of the My Father Limited Edition where I purchased a box of these cigars that were limited to 2000 boxes of 12. What makes these cigars so special is the fact that were rolled by Jose ‘Pepin’ Garcia and his son Jamie Garcia. The wrapper was put on by Jose, and the binder/filler was done Jaime making these very special and collectibles. The purchase set me back $300.00 and to be honest with you I had planned to buy them in Pennsylvania but my work schedule didn’t work out. There these cigars would of cost me a lot less, $75.00 less. However, I don’t feel bad because the guys at Tobacco Plaza are top notch.Watch for a cigar review coming soon.

That wasn’t the only event I went to this week…

Friday News: IPCPR Version

ipcpr

There are so many updates that I decided to come back a day early. Here are some memories and information about new cigars. The list is long and will continue tomorrow as well.

I guess everyone wants to know how IPCPR and to be honest I found it a little overwhelming even with crowds much lighter then normal. I pretty much took a lot of time to be a spectator and I wandered the floor looking at new products and only taking the time to introduce myself if the person was not busy. After all this is a show for retailers first, press second.

Cigar Review: Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial

jaimegarciareservaespecial_tn

The first time I smoked these cigars were at the launch event over at Cigar Inn. Sadly the cigar that was released that night is different then the current version and I have this on good authority. It seems following the success of the My Father cigar that Jaime put together as a tribute to his father he was “allowed” to create the Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial. The story goes that at the Cigar Inn event Pepin smoked the cigar for the first time and wasn’t very excited about it. So when back at the farm the cigar went under a reblend of sorts and this is the cigar we have today. The cigar features 2 different kinds of Nicaraguan tobacco with one grown by Jaime and the other Pepin. Also the cigar features tobacco grown at the Oliva farm giving us a different more complex cigar then previously smoked.

Cigar Review: Nestor Miranda Dominicano Rosado

We would like to thank Miami Cigar Company for sending some samples of these new smokes prior to their release dates so we can share our findings. This is a risky move because despite Miami Cigar Co. being one of our sponsors we will not hide our feelings when it comes to reviews. I personally rather risk losing a sponsor then some readers over an unfair biased review. We promise to remain objective on all cigars no matter how we obtain them. I take great pride in my honesty and straight forward nature and I am not about to change who I am for any reason. A rating cannot and will not ever be bought.
