I’ll be the first to admit I never heard of the country, Bhutan which is located in the Himalayan mountains. Bhutan’s landscape ranges from subtropical plains in the south to the Sub-alpine Himalayan heights in the north, with some peaks exceeding 7,000 metres (23,000 ft). The total area of the country is currently 38,816 square kilometres (14,987 sq mi) and is home to roughly 700,000 people.
So much for the geographic lession, now lets move on to a lesson that I hope does not become history. It seems that a Bhuddhist monk is facing five years in prison for braking the countries strict anti-smoking law. The tiny kingdom of Bhutan has vowed to become the first smoke-free nation.
