Padilla La Terraza Capa Habano 2010 – Cigar Review

La Terraza Capa Habano 2010 Band

There is so much one can write about Padilla Cigars that is both positive and negative. For the aspect of this review we will keep in positive… for the most part. Originally made by Pepin, the source of Padilla Cigars bounced around more then a Mexican Jumping Bean. Cigars that were loved by the consumer were no longer available due to changes and despite this Padilla continues to land on his feet by producing good cigars. Things seem to be good for Ernesto Padilla now and despite some delays in the releasing of new product he is back on track to make a new impression on cigar smokers.

On Twitter lately there has been a buzz about the new Padilla La Terraza…

El Primer Mundo Epifania – Cigar Review

El Primer Mundo Epifania Band

Sean Williams the owner of El Primer Mundo is one of the nicest guys you can meet in the industry. While his cigars are relatively new they have slowly begun to expand into many cigar shops around the nation. Last year we were pleasantly surprised with the Primer Mundo Liga Miami so when we got some samples of the Epifania we were eagerly awaiting smoking them.

The Epifania translates to Epiphany in Italian and was made in Calle Ocho, Miami, Florida at El Titan de Bronze which has become a hotbed of exquisite smokes. The question is does this cigar fit that trend, or has the famed factory hit a speed bump in the road of success.

News: CAO OSA SOL

cao-osa-sol

We received a bunch of press releases today from General Cigar, but will hold off on posting the majority of them until we have the photography to go with them.

First up is the CAO OSA Sol, which features a proprietary wrapper cultivated in Hondurs in Olancho’s San Augustin valley. The cigar is is the first release for CAO under the auspices of General Cigar….

I recently had the chance to have dinner at Club Macanudo with Victori McKee who is the Director of Public Relations along with Rick Rodriguez from CAO. Rick who is in charge of new product development had an in depth conversation with acigarsmoker.com about the methods of aging and fermentation that CAO used in the past.

Emilio AF2 – Cigar Review

Emilio AF2 Band

A couple of months ago I reviewed the Emilio AF1 cigar and was really impressed. This time around, I review the AF2. Emilio is a new brand from Gary Griffith who owns a few cigar shops in Delaware and they are pretty damn good. In my last interview I referred to the brand as the next boutique cigar to work its way into the mainstream and I still believe that to be true today.

Tatuaje La Verite Vintage 2009 – Cigar Review

La Verite 2009 Band

According to Tobacco Plaza on Long Island where I purchased these, “The Tatuaje Verite 2009 is an extremely limited edition cigar that will, like all of Pete Johnson’s limited production cigars, sell out fast and be gone from existence in no time at all.”

“La Verite began as an idea that Pete had when he first saw the tobacco growing in the Garcia Family first wholly owned farm in 2007. He realized the tobacco was going to be spectacular and after the tobacco was harvested and undergoing the fermentation process, it dawned on him that it was perfect for a single farm vintage cigar. Much like a single vineyard wine, La Verite showcases the soil where the tobacco was grown. The seed varietal varies from year to year based on the crop planted and the tobacco yield.

Sublimes – Cigar Review

Sublimes Band

When I went into Tobacco Plaza the other day one of the owners that I needed something new to smoke, and he pointed me to today’s cigar. The Sublimes is a stick I never heard of but one of the customers there went on and on about how great of a cigar it is. So I picked up a couple and let them sit in my humidor for a couple of weeks.

According the website, “Having been sold mostly in South Florida since 2004, our decision to go national was the only natural retort to the years of mounting local demand and popularity. Skillfully hand-crafted in Little Havana, Miami, the end result is a cigar boasting a complex array of flavors that come together to produce an excellent medium to full bodied smoke. Sublimes cigars are truly the epitome of taste and excellence.”

Don Pepin Blue Label Firecracker – Cigar Review

Don Pepin Blue Label Firecracker Band

When I ordered my Tatuaje M80 cigars from Two Guys Smoke Shop a couple of weeks ago, I remembered that they were the exclusive for another Pepin cigar, the Blue Label Firecracker. This ultra small cigar is a bit of a gimmick. The blend is the same as the Blue Label Pepin, however it comes in at 3″ long or should I say 3″ small.

So with Independence Day upon us I figured I would light up a Firecracker, one that Mayor Bloomberg can’t arrest me for in NYC, however I have to be careful where I smoke it so I don’t get a ticket. Isn’t it funny, how we broke free from England over taxes, and yet we are taxed to hell currently and despite having elected officials I don’t feel represented fairly. I don’t know about you, but I think it is time to pass the flat tax.

La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinets – Cigar Review

LFD Cameroon Cabinets Band

There are so many cigars in the La Flor Dominicana library that I have skipped over during the 3 years I have worked on this site. Some of them are due to cost, and some of them are because I like to smoke them as a social cigar. By this I mean I smoke them, while talk hanging out with friends and don’t really get lost in the review as I enjoy the company.

The other day I woke up while on vacation to find a note from Andrew who is the VP of Sales for La Flor Dominicana and the sock-less wonder was the second person to make the comparison to me and Colt Ford. In honor of that I reached into my humidor and decided to review the Cameroon Cabinets from La Flor Dominicana.

Tatuaje M80 – Cigar Review

fireworks

About a week ago I was on the phone with a friend telling him that I was going to order some M80′s while I was riding the elevator in my building. What happened was almost comical as an older woman overheard me, and began yelling at me about fireworks being illegal. I tried to explain to her it was the name of the cigar but the woman didn’t want to hear it. This new tenant made my life hell over the next couple of days as she called the new landlord to tell him I was selling fireworks. As I was driving to work I got a call from the offices of my landlord telling me that if I am selling fireworks I would be evicted and reported to the police. I told the office this was the name of a cigar, and the woman made something out of nothing because she only heard part of a personal phone call. Over and done with right? Wrong!. The next day one of the partners that own the building called me saying he never heard of the cigar and he was a cigar smoker. Well after convincing him to call Two Guys Smoke Shop to ask about the M80 he relented and I haven’t heard from him since.

Perdomo Lot 23 – Cigar Review

PerdomoLot23_Band

A lot of people I know are huge fans of Perdomo Cigars, and while I don’t dislike them I have yet to find one I am passionate about. After asking a few people in various cigar shops which Perdomo I should try they all said Lot 23. So I picked up 2, and I knew I had one sitting in my humidor at home for well over a year. In fact I would say this is closer to 2 years old. So i decided to make this review based on the 2-year-old Perdomo.

According to the Perdomo website;

Alec Bradley Tempus Creo (Lancero) – Cigar Review

TempusBand

I probably smoke a lot more Alec Bradley cigars because of who the local sales rep is (Barry Blonder). They make good cigars, but I wouldn’t describe myself as a die-hard fan. The rep however is such a nice guy, and fun to be around that I find myself drawn to the product to support him more than the brand. While he wasn’t the rep back in the day, my experience with Alec Bradley smokes started on shaky ground. Do you remember the triangular box pressed Trilogy cigar? If s,o you will know what I mean when I say Alec Bradley has come a long way. The Tempus line of cigars moved Alec Bradley into the upper echelon of premium cigar manufacturers, and they continue to build on the success the brand brought them.

According to the Alec Bradley websites…

Graycliff Crystal (White Label) – Cigar Review

GraycliffCrystal_Band

Recently with Graycliff Cigars being in the news and Torano taking over their US Distribution the cigar has stepped back into the limelight with me. Ad to the fact that they recently became a part of the twitter community and it will tell you a lot about my smoking habits. Our of sight, out of mind. A lot of times I will reach for a cigar because of a conversation I had earlier in the day.

When I was the manager…

El Perrito War of Flavors – Cigar Review

IMG_8361

It seems like it has been forever since I reviewed a cigar. I had written many in advance and now I am back to writing them on the fly. When I post in this method generally speaking I have smoked at least 2 cigars previously of the brand I am reviewing in the same vitola. Sometimes a cigar is too expensive for this method, or a company sent me samples in different sizes. In the end about 80% of the time though, I have smoked a few before writing the review.

Today’s review is of El Credito, El Perrito War of Flavors. According to the press release…
