Press Release: Quesada Q d’etat

printscreen copy

The Q d’etat line represents a symbolic revolt against the unfair taxation practices and mistreatment of the premium cigar industry. The brand is intended to create awareness of the dangers increased government regulation and taxation will produce, specifically the FDA’s desire to regulate premium cigars. There will be three sizes, released at different dates, of 1,000 ten-count boxes. Each box will contain a form to register for membership in Cigar Rights of America. The first of the three sizes is a figurado called the “Molotov” and will be released in January.

Cigar Review: PDR 1878 Reserva Dominicana Capa Oscura

Just before I got sick I was contacted by Abe Flores of Pinar Del Rio asking if I would like to sample his new cigars. Having become a fan last year as the company took a turn for the better I eagerly jumped all over it. In my constant battle with my mailman the first set of samples sent to me never arrived. It seems if the box does not fit in my mailbox the mailman was leaving the box on the floor by the mailboxes instead of bringing them to my door. Well despite this I managed to tip my mailman this year and now the packages are left at my door and nothing has not yet showed up. Thankfully Abe sent out a second shipment and I apologize for the delay in getting these reviewed as having mild pneumonia knocked me down for the count (a saying I do not get, wouldn’t thank make me dead).

Cigar Review: Litto Gomez Diez Chisel

IMAG0248

According to the La Flor Dominicana website, “In 1999, We challenged ourselves to produce a cigar that was made entirely with tobacco grown on our farm. We knew it was a difficult task, because it implied growing our own wrapper. The investment was big and the risk too. But the most difficult part was the waiting. The process of fermentation and aging took more years than we expected. We tested this blend month after month for three years. Just to be disappointed because it was not ready but at the same time happy because we would taste the progress. Finally the waiting is over, today we can celebrate this great achievement. The flavor and complexity of the LG’s are everything that we anticipated. We hope you enjoy these great cigars.”

I’ve smoked quite a few of these cigars over time, but the one I am using as my review was gifted to me by the owner of Fume Cigars in Montclair, NJ.
